what kind of wood would you user for a stand.
i was thinking painted pine 2X4 framing and cheap 3/4 inch cd plywood for the floor inside.
i need to know what kind of thick-faced hardwood veneer should i use.
is birch ok or is white oak the only way to go? or any other suggestions?

What ever you decide to skin your stand it's all based on personal tastes, depth of pocket book, and if you are going to paint or stain it. I used knotty white pine for my current stand. The next one will either be knotty alder or hickory. Also depending on size of tank you might want to use 2x6's, for added strength.
