I am having a good day, just got my aquaticlife 48" 6x54 light and it is beautiful :). I have to figure out how it will work with my tank cover. It takes up almost the entire top space. No room for heat exchange, maybe cut some holes out over the exhaust vents. However, I will figure something out. I plan to keep the original lights but will change them out when I decide to move to a reef tank. That will be many months down the road. I want to make sure I have a well established tank and I learn much more. I also got a Koralia Evo 1400, I am currently alittle surprised. It pumps great but makes much more noise than my older Koralia 4 . Is that normal? or is there something I need to do to quiet it down?

I swear I'm like a little kid at christmas when my stuff arrives. The UPS guy doesn't even make it out of his truck before I'm standing there in the street with my arms outstreached.

Not too familiar with the Koralia's. Sorry can't help you there.

I have four of the new EVOs and mine are silent. Make sure the impeller is lined up properly, if you disassemble it, you will notice the notches that if not lined up properly, they will chatter.

6x54 watt should be enough light for a reef tank, assuming you have a 55 or 75. Just run some carbon at all times and keep the water clear. RINSE YOUR CARBON WELL first though. :)

I will try that, it is very bothersome. Will let you know the status.

something must be up mine are so quiet i used to have 3x k2's and even notice a lil drop in temp since switching to evo's, love the flow I get(2x1400) but I tried them on my RKL on wave maker mode and they chatter on start up I'm not sure what the prob is, going to get ahold of hydro when I get a chance see what's up. but when the are both on It looks like random flow any way, they have very nice spread of water flow

oh and haha Cory next I'll charge you double for a frag

For as little as you charge, I wouldn't have a problem with that. In all seriousness, the blue digi is doing great.

pulled the pump out, took it apart, reassembled and it now is quiet. Should have done this in the first place. Thanks

as for your lights under your canopy i have 2 (4 blub 54w) setups undermine no heat issues i plan on pullling my canopy this weekend to do some maintance and rock work (hating the flow restrictions) I can take some pics of mine for you. I basically used some L-brackets to hold the lights up in place, some zip ties to hold the fixtures to the brackets. and the L-bracketed some ac powered fans under the canopy to help remove heat. Works great fans are a little loud but work awesome

Thanks, I think I will open a hole over each of the vent fans and watch the temp. If necessary I can attach a fan over the openings to pull more air.
