I think a few of my fish may have fin rot. Some don't seem to have it but three seem to. A clown, a hawk and a damsel. Today is the first day I noticed it. The damsel and the hawks fin looks kinda "rough" looking. The clowns fin looks similar but is much more obvious. I have read up on fin rot and somewhat educated myself. I've been battling high nitrates in my tank since i got it about three months ago. They've slowly come down but are still in the 20-30 PPM range. I've read mixed stories about reef safe treatments. I would really like to avoid quarantine if possible. Does anyone know of a reef safe treatment? Should I just give it a few days and see if they recover?

If you want to qt I have a 45 gallon tub and filter that I used when I qtd what was left of my 180 gallon. :( I would try vitamins. The damsel and clown could maybe be picking on each other? Do you need some macro to help battle nitrates?

Im located here in New Barunfels pretty much behind kohls if you need anything.

The damsel and clown get along fine. I have some macro and have been doing water changes to get them down. Thanks for the offer on the 45g. I may hit you up if things get worse.

Yup, fin rot is caused by a bacterial infection. If they don't get better soon or get worse, I'll being quarantining them and giving them antibiotics.

Bump, anyone know of a reef safe method to get them treated? Sorry to bump so soon but if there's something I need to buy, I'd like to know so I can get it today while I'm in town.
