I've installed a two HO T5 bulbs using an Advance ICN4P32SC electronic ballast. The ballast is very similar to a Workhorse 7 ballast. It is not made to run T5s, but it seems to be doing very well. Since it is a instant start and not a program start ballast, I don't think the bulbs will last as long. Probably only 1 to 1.5 years. It is the same wiring as ODNO T8s. Has anyone ever tried this before?

Some ballast like Work Horse will run different lamps. Your ballast guessing with the serial # will run 4 32 watt T8 or total 128 watts. WH#7 will run 220 watts of any lamp. The only way to see if this ballast is working correctly is with a Lumen or PAR meter using your ballast and then a ballast made for T5HO. Since your ballast is not UL Listed for T5HO I would not recommend it. And you are correct program and rapid start ballast help lamps run longer than instant start.
