For Those of you who have been or are in the freshwater cichlid hobby probably is using or has at least heard of people who use Swimming pool filter sand in their cichlid aquariums.

I started using it probably 7-8 years ago in my freshwater tank. For those of you who know what kind of sand im talking about do you think its suitable for a saltwater aquarium?

I really like the color and grain size and the fact that it doesnt cloud the water at all, Not to mention the price. Need sand for my 180g and am thinking of going this route

Isn't that a silicate based sand?

here's the data sheet. Yes, it appears to be silica sand.
After my major diatom problem I'd not consider this sand for myself but the more adventurous minded reefer might. :)

yep you are right. Im not going to use it.

You know its crazy what adding saltwater to something will cause. With freshwater tanks you have no problems what so ever using a silica sand. Add it to saltwater and you have a lot of issues.
