Is it usual for a protien skimmer to pull up wet foam/water into the skimmer cup during the break-in period? The skimmer is set about halfway into the water.

Need more precise information skimmer type (brand), depth of half way, have you had a skimmer on system before, have you done a water change between last skimmer and current one, do you like it wet?

I have an octopus nwb110 and the aquarium has been running for about a 2 weeks. Its in about 7" of water, the outlet is above the water and you can adjust it.

the tall tube that the air tube connects to from the pump rotates, if you turn it counter clockwise it closes the valve and raises the water level(wet skim), turn clockwise and lowers the water level and you get a drier skim, you want to be in the middle of dry and wet. just have to tweek it to find the sweet spot in your setup here's a pic of mine 12 hours after setting it up pulling dry skim

Just throw it in the garbage :)
Open it all the way let it down as much as possible and see what happens. If nothing, give it a 1/4 turn and wait and see. Slowly wins the race.

Ok It seems to have worked, now I have to get it just right. Also should there be water in the middle container that separates the skimate cup and the main water holding area.

Ok Im still having problems with the adjustment. either way i turn it, it still seems to not make a different on the flow. Also is the middle section between the main tube and skimmate cup suppose to have water in it? It is about half full of water whenever i turn it on. also the skimmer is about 5-6" in the water. any tips on this octupos nwb 110 will be helpful. Its not a cone model either straight tube.
