Does anybody know of a sand sifting goby that won't jump out of an open top tank?

just make a top. I just lost one of my favorite fish. It's so sad to find them all dried up...

I know my brother has kept a rainfordi in an open top for a while --That said I'm with europhyllia, it's just not worth the risk.

That's what I am thinking of doing with one of the cracked tanks I'm picking up, just don't know how it's going to work being rimless and all. Also I put Some plexi on the top for the time being but it gets a film of sorts over of fairly quickly.

I kept a firefish for over a year with an open top. One extra skiddish tang later......

Our floors must look like the most divine tide pool in the world...
wrasses jump
hawks jump
and most especially, gobies jump!

(which is why we have mesh tops on all our tanks!)

Karin Thanks for the advice on the screen/mesh tops. The mesh came in today and it took all of 15-20 minutes to whip up a nice top. It doesnt eve ruin my rimless look too much from head on due to the way my system is setup. Here are a few pics

Didn't you make a cut out for something that looks like a skimmer? Why is it IN your tank? Isn't that kind of an inconvenient place for a skimmer to be?

Ya I made a cut-out of sorts for it. I basically made the frame go around it and put the spline in the frame and wha-la. I see how the skimmer looks like its in my tank but really its in my "sump". here are a few pics of how my tank is setup. I made my own all-in-one from a 30 long and put in a false wall on either side of the tank to make the display look like a 20 gallon b/c im only allowed a 20 in my dorm room. the area on the left is like a typical sump with sponges, polyfiber, phosgaurd, carbon, under an underflow, protien skimmer, return pump. the right area is like a refugium, first sponges then under a wall and into a refugium w/ LRR and cheato, then the return pump
