I just bought a pump less than a month ago used and I have had it running for 5 days. I got a panicked call from the house saying the living room was flooded! Needless to say I got home and the pump was broken wich caused a back flow. And yes I was about to install precautions to stop a back flow. I need to know if anyone can help me? does anyone have a high powered pump they would be willing to trade that woun't break? I have a WII with 2 controllers games and numchucks? or cash!

I would suggest a mag 5 or so(depending on tank size). When you get your other pump going again you can always use the mag for water changes or something. They are fairly cheap and found at even petsmart I think. I am not very knowledgable on the hang on back overflows which seems like you have but maybe others could help you in this regard.

drill a hole in the return line right below your water level. so if pump or elec goes out as soon as water level reaches below that hole the return line will get air in it and stop suction and will stop draiing
