Is there a TMAC II in the works? I sure hope so...we had a great time and learned a lot at last years event.

I know it is in the works but I dont think they have decided on a date yet. Perhaps a board member will know about a decided upon date if there is one at this time.

Well that's a bummer. I was kinda hoping it was going to be somewhere in the middle like last year.

But San Antonio is in the middle between Austin area and Corpus. Actually a little closer to Austin.
If I remember correctly there were some issues with the place it was held last time around.

Yeah the last place was in the middle of no where...which isn't exactly convenient for the big travelers. San Antonio should prove to be a prime location for the big picture. Plus the last place was super expensive.
I'm surprised Alex and Kristy haven't chimed in yet....they are doing all the leg work on this.
I'm sure we will hear from them soon. They have been weighing all of the options and getting lots of quotes to compare.

It might have been expensive, but it was sure a nice place.

hey guys sorry for not chiming in sooner, honestly didn't even see the thread until robcob pointed it out.
yeah me and kristy are working on finding a suitable location for the conference.
right now our main objective is securing the venue, once that happens we can contract with the vendors and speakers. then just waiting for the event itself. once the event nears we will be soliciting volunteers to assist with the preparations and setting up.
let either me or kristy know if you are interested in helping out. all help will be appreciated, i can tell you from experience-being alone at 2am setting up with vendors is not fun. i don't want to do that again this year. lol.

I wouldn't say San Marcos is in the middle of no where!!! It is one of the most visited places in Texas with the outlet malls, and it in between Austin and San Antonio

I guess. We got a lot of different feedback from the out of towners that traveled though and a lot weren't happy with the location.
I'm sure all of Austin, New Braunfels and San Marcos were happy with it though.
If this is to be our BIG event of the year...our own little MACNA, then we should definitely consider the out of towners.

It was a convenient location for those who were coming in from 35N. such as Ft Worth and Dallas, and south as well as those who came from Houston.....
We were looking at the convenience for all Reef Keepers, not just those of San Antonio..
Many of the wives, who did not share the hobby, spent a great weekend at the outlets....
San Antonio has multiple venues, with the same standards, which most of the attendees were impressed with....my only hope is that the committee keeps this mind when selecting.
I personally spoke with each Vendor and most of the attendees, if not all, the only complaint I/we received was the absence of food and use of credit card..

Just bear in mind that San Antonio turns all of us Northern Maastards into out-of-towners! However, SA definitely splits the difference for the CC folks. SA, San Marcos, I'm still there either way.

yeah, same here. I'm there no matter where it's at. Personally I would rather have it in another city... I like taking road trips with my wife. It's nice to get out of town.

It was a great facility and location last year and quite expensive. We're just exploring all our options, weighing the costs, etc. to allow the BOD to decide the best way to spend MAAST's dollars on this event. We will keep everyone posted as soon as a decision is made. In the meantime, let's look forward to October.

I think san antonio would be a better location for the out of state people and also houston and dallas since so many major highways intersect there. IH35 for austin, IH37 for corpus, IH10 for houston. I realize its another 30 minutes from austin which I know isnt good for the austin crowd but it is 30 minutes closer for the corpus crowd. I also know we had some people fly in last year so with the san antonio airport it will be easier on them. I will be happy to travel where ever it ends up being though since I had a great time last year.
