I have a half dozen black mollys, free, they are GREAT for starting a new marine tank. They do well in either fresh or salt water(even breed in salt water). They are easy to catch after tank has cycled. All you do is throw a little flake food in and scoop them out. 1 million times better than damsels! All I ask(not that I am checking) is after your tank has cycled, you pass them on, free, thanks Jolly.

When I first started in SW I added a couple Mollys to watch my Lionfish feast. After a week or so they began popping out little babies regularly. When it was clear the Lionfish wasn't interested, I removed them and gave them their own tank. So I think they do pretty well in SW.

I don't recommend using ANY livestock for acclimating. There's no need and it isn't pet friendly. But it does make for an interesting addition to the tank.

Aw. Poor little mollys! I wish I still had a FW tank. Sounds like these guys might be ready for retirement. :) Who wants to cycle all the time? How big of a tank do 6 mollys need by themselves?

Molly's actually don't do real well in pure freshwater -- they need some salt to thrive, hence why they do well in saltwater.. 6 molly's would probably be fine in a 20 gallon or so :)

+1 -- live rock is all you need to cycle a tank... the die off and algal blooms are PLENTY :)

Maybe snfkotara can put them in her saltwater pond.

Jolly has offerd to donate his 30 gal setup to the MAAST equipment bank(I'm still going to hook him up with some frags) once these are gone.
Someone please take them!
