Love all the pics from the people with great skills and nice SLR cameras so I've been working harder at getting something out of my cheapo point-and-shoot camera.
Here are some pics:

This is one of my favorites because you can see the little polyps so well. It's a blue polyp digi I got from Justahobby. :)

This one is not a great pic but I love it because it shows how the Blue Ridge frag is already growing over the substrate I glued it to :applause:

Close up of a purple goniopora frag I got from the same person as the blue ridge - also already spreading a little bit :)

Some very pretty photosynthetic gorgonians I got from Justahobby

This is a 'shadow and light study' of a very large Euphyllia hybrid I got from Troutmaster.

I really like this hammer coral. It's got such a vivid green color

Got these beautiful Dendros for the single polyp price from Pacific Aquaculture

These are great photos! Trust me I pushed my point-in-shoot to the limits before I got my camera..some of them take some really great shots!

Nice Karin! The effort is really producing some nice shots. Funny how sometimes the point-and-shoot can perform and other times it just can't. Guess it's when the range of pre-set conditions happens to match the optimum photo conditions? Dunno, but whatever you are doing, keep doing it!

Way to go....I would've never guessed those are with a point-n-shoot!! You have some very nice coral.

That set is just as good as a DSLR!
:)
I have a ton of bad shots, last night I was just lucky and managed to get everything right. It takes a boatload of pics, to only get a few!

Great pictures, what kind of camera were you using?

Thanks, it's an Olympus Shock and Waterproof camera model Stylus.
My fts are no good. Most of my stuff is tiny. I rarely bought big corals unless it was from another member's tank and since my tank is 6 ft long you can hardly find the corals in a fts. :D

well, make sure you at least take some along the way even if you dont post them now. that way, when it grows in you can post them and the grown in pic to show how much progress you have made

I need more sun corals ;)
(and yes that's green algae on my back glass. I leave it there for the pods. Algae happens! :D Althought the urchin seems to diminish it quite a bit...)

Speaking of urchin. Here's my little urchin trying to get away with a yellow feather duster:
http://www.dominopads.com/urchinworm.jpg
I was worried he'd lose the duster in a place I won't find him so I took it away from him and placed it back where I had it. He actually went back down all the way to get it again! who would have thought urchins had memories and determination (and a sense of style!)?

Great shots, Karin! Point-and-shoots are fully capable cameras, you just have to have some patience... clearly you do! :)
That first shot is marvelous -- plenty of people would be hard pressed to get a shot that close, and that nice, with a DSLR :)
Is the camera actually submersible, or simply 'won't die if it gets a bit wet'?

i have heard that urchins will somehow map out your entire tank - probably using some sort of chemical signal left behind.

Ace, thats very interesting -- any sources by chance? I'd love to read more about that..

Ahh, CIA information...
I'll look into that at work tonight, sounds like it could make for some interesting reading material... bio-signaling of some sort, the ocean is awesome :)

Submersible up to 30 feet. :)
I lost one camera before due to my kid spilling juice on it and one due to it being dropped from the couch. This one seemed like the perfect model for my family.
You can drop it 5 feet and completely submerse it in water although you have to wash it off really good afterwards in freshwater.

Here are a couple of close ups of my new gorgs:
http://www.dominopads.com/purplewhip.jpg
http://www.dominopads.com/yellowgorg.jpg
I think it's kind of interesting how the purple whip's polyps are really translucent compared to the yellow finger gorgonian's solid white polyps.
