i have had this growing in my tank for a while not it was the size of a small pea and not its larger than a quarter. its the purple thing almost between the two brown mushrooms.

Looks like a spongy sponge to me too :) I love 'em ... especially when they're purple like that or bright yellow. :)

The only reason I think this is because of the spout.

Well Im glad to know that they are sponge I have had a few grow on some LR.

Does a web come out of the tip? If it does it is a snail called a Vermatid.

Eek. A web? Not like those fan feeler things the branacles send out right?

Are they bad snail? I do have one of these on a acan colony.
They can irritate nearby corals. They would cause my sps to necrose.

They don't look fan like. They look more like a spider web.

there is no web that comes out. just a little spout at the top. thanks for all the info guys i was worried it was something bad.

The spouts on sponges have an opaque look. Not completely clear, but almost.
