Ultrazone Ozonizer, 360mg/hr NIB $150

This unit is New, but no warranty. It was damaged in transit, and I was told to keep it. I opened it up to look at the damage, and it was just some ceramic rattling around!

It works fine, and has never been used. This IS for bigger tanks. Cool thing about this unit is that it does NOT require a dryer. If you decide to replace the bulb anyway, they are $60. The piece that broke off does not affect the operation.

Uh, Bill- Any good sites or places to get information on these things? I read your link and am still not sure where this goes or how it works. My sense is it is a little like a UV, but better? From your experience can you give a recap of this item or advise where to read up on them and their uses? Kristy has expressed some interest, but we would need to know more...Thanks.

This is an ozonizer. Like the Red Sea unit. Bob Fenner suggested that I add ozone. I've been around for a while (35+ years), and I've NEVER been a big fan of ozone. But, what the heck, I'm always in for something new. So, I did some checking around, and I decided that THIS was the unit I wanted. Reviews were good, AND it didn't require a dryer.

The above said, I had a whole lot less success getting a unit. The first was DEFINATELY DOA. The second, which is this one, rattled when you tilted the box up and down. So, I claimed this one as well. MONTHS went by, and after a whole bunch of requests, they never picked it up. Finally, they said "keep it". So I did.

In the meantime, I installed a Red Sea unit. Kind of... carp. I'm now on my second one.

This thing has been in the garage, so I decided to open it up, and replace the bulb. I wanted to find somewhere other than the manufacturer, to get the bulb (since they knew it was a DOA unit), so I wanted the info off of the bulb. I opened it up, and it was just some of the ceramic tip that was busted. The light works fine!

So, THAT is where we are now. I know you folks. If you want to try it, no obligation, go for it.

P.S. Ozone DOES work well. REALLY makes the water transparent.

If only I didn't buy the table saw. I've been wanting one of these.

Mike the way I understand it you hook this up to your skimmer air inlet and it causes the skimmer to pull out a different sort of junk (?), and you only run it for short period of time.

Ozone (O3) is a powerful oxidizer. It should be hooked up to a skimmer or to a ozone reactor.

I've been running Ozone for a few years now and it works great. This seems like a great deal on an Ozonizer, but please be aware of how to properly dose Ozone. An Ozonizer this size without a REDOX/ORP controller can easily kill more than just your fish if not implemented properly.

More than your fish? Like...?

These levels of ozone should be harmless to you, your family and pets. In any case, you can smell it, in the event there is a leak (normal tubing and connectors aren't fond of ozone).

And yes, with this unit, you should use an ORP controller, although Bob Fenner told me that with my size system (about 275 gallons), I'd never get too high. I'm a cautious reefer...
