anyone have a preference of lights for a fuge? Will a simple clamp on light from HD work? if so what kind of bulb? Any suggestions?

Lowes has a 150 watt grow light that I have liked real well. Heat can be an issue on smaller tanks though. Mike and Kristy have on of those spiral flourescent home bulbs on theirs. they have happy mangroves and full of chaeto.

I have a Jalli Refugium light on my hang on. Had that one for 5 years or so and still works great. Got two more to put on my refugium in the sump and both fixtures were duds.
Now I run a Jalli on the HOB and a clamp on/daylight energy saver bulb on the sump refugium.
Got 6500k energy saver (spiral in reflector bulb) at Lowes.

Yep. The one Ping suggested is the one to go with. He's the Fuge Guru

I'm using the FW Coralife Aqualight Mini it's working great so far. I didn't really have room for a clip on and wanted something really small. It's great for that purpose. 18w in a roughly 8" x 6" footprint.

When it comes to a fuge, I usually take Ping's advice. I see most of us do as well...

I have just some CFLs. I am growing kenya trees in my fuge and brown moon palys are growing too, dang it.
