Anyone using this bulb? Also, is there a Workorse ballast that will run 4, 39 watt T-5 bulbs?

I can only see it right before my 4 daylight bulbs come on! LOL

The Fiji Purple comes on at the same time as my blue plus.
Kidding aside I think it does change the coloration of the corals even if you can't see the purple light once the daylight bulbs are on.

I think it brings out the burgundy in the chili corals nicely but it washes out the yellow on my solid yellow sun polyps (or maybe they're just shocked by the two extra daylight bulbs I added yesterday ;))
My orange/yellow/pink sun coral however looks really nice with the Fiji Purple. I guess there has to be some red component to the coloring of the coral to be intensified by the purple bulb which the solid yellow doesn't have.

It also makes the blue Maxima look much more purple - I sort of liked the blue...

So... I love what it does to the chilis, pipe organ and the pink/orange/yellow sun coral.
I don't like it all that much for the clam and I really miss the vivid yellow of the solid yellow sun coral.

Here's a picture with just the blue + (in the back) and the Fiji Purple (in front):

You can really see the purple in that pic, thanks so much for the pic and the review! Im thinking about adding one to my 3 Geisemann actinic plus and 250w 10k halide. Cube, happen to have a link handy to that bulb? What ballast are you firing them on? Same question for you EuroMom.. Also, how tall is your tank?!

I'm running one on my tank. I think it really makes the reds/pinks pop. I'm just using a cheap ATI power module ballast and it seems to be working well. Let me know if you want to order one, I'm thinking about ordering some for myself and get a discount through Reefgeeks.

I don't have any pics handy, but I've been running a 48" Fiji Purple bulb on my 90 gal (25" tall) for several months. The bulb does a good job of making reds and oranges stand out. I'm currently using IceCap 660s to run all of my bulbs, so instead of 54 watts I'm pushing closer to 80 watts per bulb.

@ReffCube: I too would be very interested in knowing which UVL bulb is the "poor man's Fiji Purple."

Fishy, Ry, thanks for the info, I think I might go in with you on these bulbs, I just need to know if theres a Workhorse ballast available that will run 4 39 watt t-5's. I know the WH7 will only run three...

Oops! According to the Fulham site, the WH7 will indeed run four 39w bulbs! Great, now I can use the extra dough to buy a reflector...
