Recently, there was a very engaging thread in the General discussion section. Anyone who is a regular here knows which discussion I'm referring to.

The OP left it pretty wide open, so it seemed to be an open debate. Many different and valid points were presented in this debate. I never saw anything derogatory, inflammatory, or morally wrong with any of the posts.

So why then was the entire discussion made off limits to most of us? If there was a later post that crossed the line, then it itself should have been deleted.

Was this the decision of the whole board or the actions of a few?

I understand the Board and it's members are here to make decisions for Maast and the direction and operation of this organization. But I did not expect them to tell me which ideas and opinions I could read, and which I could not.

Regardless, whomever decided to delete that entire discussion showed bad form, and I would argue, overstepped their authority.

I would like to ask that the thread be re-opened so we can at least view it. Lock it if you want to, but it's a debate that is not going to go away just by deleting it.

Please do not take this as an effort to usurp the boards authority or create trouble. I think you all serve everone's best interests at heart.

But, this matter is treading in dangerous territory.

Ok, after having time today to do some catching up on some reading around here, I think I have the answer as to why the thread was removed.

However, I still think in the interest of openess, the thread should at least be moved to a viewable status and locked.

Again, I hope this topic was not taken as a hostile position towards the board.
