I'm going to be tearing down my tank pretty soon, but I'm also already planning a new one. I've never had an acrylic tank, but there definitely seem to be some advantages if I were to go that route.
I like the fact that the tank won't shatter since I have 2 small children. Also, I may be wrong, but don't acrylic tanks have clarity that rivals starphire gl***** Of course the down side to acrylic is the fact that it scratches easily. I think I would be okay with that, especially knowing that the tank won't shatter.
Another thing that makes acrylic appealing is the fact that it will be alot easier to get a tank to my exact dimensions, and specifications.
So, other than the threat of the tank getting scratched up easily, are there anymore downsides that I should be aware of?
