I know 250w would be best, but I want to know if 2x150w would be good enough? I'm also going to be adding 2x54w T5HO overdriven on an IC660 for actinics but will use ATI Blue Plus bulbs with icecap individual reflectors.
Thanks

i think the 2x150 would give you better coverage across the tank. if it is a standard 75g, then the 150w would be sufficient to reach the bottom of the tank. i think a single 250w unit would give intense light to the center of your tank, but on a 4' tank, how much coverage do you get?
hth, its just my opinion, others might think different.

my SPS are mainly mid to high, nothing is kept on the sandbed except a squamosa clam. thanks for the advice. i really miss that shimmer effect that the t5s cant produce

I have 2x's 150w mh w/ radium 20k's over my 40 breeder and it's more than enough light. In fact, I bleached alot of stuff when I switched over from a single 250w w/ phoenix 14k.
You should be fine with the 150's.

I think that 2 150s would be fine on a 75. On a 4' tank you definately want two of them or you'll have very shaded areas on each end.

i have a 6x39 t-5 fixture on my 75 and sps love it. i still need to acclimate all new corals to the light because it is so bright. Plus no heat!!!

ive already got a 6x54w with icecap ballasts, but miss the shimmer. so im going to switch over
and 250w metal halides would be great for SPS and clams on a 75g
