Hello everyone!

I am in the process of getting ready to move to San Antonio.

I currently have a 125 gallon mixed reef system; a 65 gallon anemone tank; and a 55 gallon macro tank. I've been in the hobby now for over 10 years, but I learn new stuff everyday and rely on my reef friends around the country for advice. Looking forward to getting involved in this club as well.

I'm looking for a place (pet/friendly apt or rental home) near Loop 1604, between I-10 and 281. If you know of a great 2/3 bedroom place, let me know! I am also looking for a nice 120 gallon system in San Antonio. I will be shipping some of my corals and fish, but will need to get a system up and running for them. Hopefully I will be able to move my Bluespot jawfish pair (BJ and The Misses) and my Picasso pair. This is the most difficult part of the move for me.

Later,

Lorraine

I hate moving tanks!!!! Good luck with the move.

My company is transferring me.

This is going to be quite a change. We haven't ever lived anywhere but Utah. The last time I was in San Antonio was some 15 years ago for a dog show. I'm sure a lot has changed since then.

Leaving Utah - No mountains, no family, no friends - I'm sad!

Arriving in Texas - No snow, new friends, still get to reef - I'm happy!:bighug:

BTW, how long after I pay my membership dues before forums get unlocked? It's no fun on the outside looking in through a peep hole!

Today is fish open house day at my place. It looks like a really cool local fish store - lol! My three tanks are all marked up with prices of everything and I know someone is going to get wet! :applause:

Thanks Mrs. z28pwr! I'm going to need to focus on my open house today, but I will call you soon! :bighug:

Welcome to the forums and Texas... and good luck with the move. My wife and I just finished moving from one apartment to another in SA and fish tanks are definitely the hard part.

You might try calling the guys at a store here called Aquarium Designs. They are right off of 281 and it is an amazing store for saltwater. They have well-established tanks in their back rooms where they hold fish for customers sometimes. You might be able to (for a price) ship your fish to them and have them hold them until your system is set up.

I can't make any promises of course... it's their business. But it might be worth a try.

Thanks, Mrs. z28pwr was kind enough to show me around a few lfs when I was in town last weekend. I'm currently working with Aquarium Designs on my new tank now that I found a place. I've decided on a 150 gallon tank (5' long, 24" deep). In looking for a place, our doggies ended up being the difficulty. Although they are very sweet Staffordshire Bull Terriers, most places restrict breeds, number of dogs, or the size of dogs. We ended up finding a sweet little home to rent in the Preston Hollow / Thousand Oaks area. When we walked in and were greeted by 3 dogs, it felt like home. (The pool in the backyard, and the greenbelt beyond that didn't hurt either.) Only thing is that it doesn't have a fish room, but there are two sheds and a greenhouse. I am fortunate enough to have my daughter taking care of our home in Utah, so the fishies will stay here until the tank is ready.
