overflow

hey guys i am trying to use an overflow box i havent ever used one any advice on setting up and making it overflow? whats it supposed to look like?? the actual overflow? pics anything will help.

fill the back and front boxes with water. stick an air line hose into the j tube and siphon the air out. the water should start coming up the tube to start the flow. once it starts move the tubing slowly out to avoid air getting back in. let me know if any of this makes sense.
