I am curious about what other people like. MY favorite fish, for the past 25 years of keeping marine fish, is the Royal Gramma. Every tank I have ever set up has one. They are beautiful, peacefull and eat anything.... the perfect fish!
My second favorite is the Yello-headed Jawfish. When this tank has been up a year, I will add one. I always have a 4 inch sandbed for my jawfish.
What is your favorite and why?

The favorite fish I have is a mandrin. My favorite fish are not reef safe either a clown trigger or an imperator angel.

New to the hobby but so far my favorite is the Cow Fish. We got one at just a little over a thumb sized and he has grown quite a bit in the last few months.

Always looking around and poking through things and always interested in what I'm doing in the tank.

Would really like to get a mandarin myself but worry that my tank isn't established well enough. If I could find one that is actively eating prepared food...

Pearly jawfish. They are just so cool how they decorate their home with shells and what ever they can find.

dude, i love the helfrichi...i've had three of them. i bought two from a lfs, one came in kind of crappy so it didn't make it through the night. the other was a champ, but i moved and the move took a heavy toll on my livestock and he bit the dust.

the third was bought after i moved, and was doing well for a while, but my new setup was having problems with some store bought water and i lost a small handful of fish.

i do plan on getting more of them after i move to my new house in a few months and after the tank has been established. i've found a new source for them and i can get them for crazy cheap.

definitely. i had one a while, but the air went out in my apt and killed off a few fish because of the temp swing. nothing like a south texas summer with no a/c!

but here's my fav fish currently in my tank:

For personality, this guy is my fave...Vilamingi (sp) Tang. Everyone that has one says they love theirs. They are full of personality and always in your face. I have many I LOVE the looks of though.

One that lives.

I love fish with personality so a couple of my favorites are the algae blenny, and flame hawkfish I've had for a couple of weeks now.

Lots of beautiful fish out there though.

My all-time fav and what I aspire to own is a mandarin that my tank can sustain. Until then it's the flame hawk.

:wub:Is there truly any way to choose an absolute favorite from the plethora of the worlds greatest pets...saltwater fish??? If I have to at the top of my list is the obvious beauty:
opistognathus rosenblatti aka blue spotted jawfish

My purple tang but I think he tried to shank me the other day. I better watch my back. Guess he didn't want me to move that rock.
