Anyone have issues with these things? Ive had one for less than a year and its dead as a doornail. Not only that but I suspect it was the source of stray voltage in my tank... Its a 4, and in my opinion, a piece of junk! Has anyone had luck trying to get one replaced by the manufacturer? I hate spending good money on something so hyped up only to find that its nothing but s-crap...

I haven't heard anything good about those. I have a Tunze and haven't had any problems. I'd definitely recommend one.

I got rid of mine I didnt like them at all, and I think it was leaking voltage also. They are loud and get stuck all the time.

I have had 3 of them in 2 tanks, and they work great. i have had them leak voltage in the tank, but it doesn't seem to hurt anything. 1 i bought new and is now a year and a half old. it is not leaking current and works. 2 k4 I bought used and they leak a small amount of current. If you are comparing them to tunze anything you are living on a different planet. K4's new are about 50-60 bucks, and you won't find an off the shelf powerhead that will move water like that w/o mod's, and for that price. Tunze powerheads that move that kind of water(1200gph) will cost you about 4 times the price. I personally would rather buy a brand new k4 ever year for 4 years. It gives me another reason to go to the fish store!

Best econo powerhead out there!!! I know I am cheeeeeaaaaap! hahaha!

I have a question for everyone; Is everyone using these or other submersible pumps on GFCI receptacles? If not please do so, not just to protect your fish but yourself also.

Volt meter, One lead in the water, the other to a ground point, A/C voltage... If theres voltage present, youll know it when you stick your fingers in the tank, specially if youre bare foot..

ill try voltage meter before barefoot test

according to a previous post on these, you are going to have a certain amount of voltage leak with any magnetically driven powerhead with the motor in the water.

Good idea.

you can mod a K2, K3, and K4 with the same sureflow kit... the black prop fits in the K2 and K3 and the white prop fits in the K4 (maybe the K3 too.) A white impellered K4 flows something like 3000gph.

Have you read the entire thread? Look at the pic on the first page. No Koralias for me, period, not even at a million gph. lol

seen Tunze stuff fail too.. Surges can cause stuff like that to happen too or if water drips down the line to the outlet i.e. no drip loop.

I've seen surges cause pumps to fail or freeze up. Never seen them cause the casing that is in the water fall apart like that.

Really glad now that I have the Vortech. I have zero motors in water now except my skimmer out in the garage.

Yeah, I was able to eliminate two Maxi mods with the Vortech, the only one Im using now is to push flow under the rocks in a bare bottom system. Im really liking the results, Im also using a Mag 12 powered SCWD so Im getting some nice random flow in my 65...

K powerhead does move good amount of water but it has alot of issues. i just got rid mine for a pocket change. maxi w/mod wil do the jobs as well nd it is cheap and compact size u can set it behind the cave to blow poops out, super quiet. tunze is too expensive but could not do it all, i had one wanna get rid of. interested?.....
