You have an exisitng system and now your adding a wet dry to your tank? If so just tie it in and it will seed itself.

you don't want to pour all the waste back in to the system might mess with your levels. and just a piece of advice i currently run bioballs with a wet/dry filter and planning on removing the bioballs cause they definitely keep my nitrates elevated and have heard that bioballs are nitrate factories.

I have had bio balls in my wet dry for my 200 gallon since 99/2000 and my nitrates stay around 1ppm. I also run a small refugium with sand, rubble, and chaeto. I keep the bio balls because I have never had a crash since I started using first bio bale back in 91/92 and switching to bio balls middle 90's, so why change something that works?
