My seahorse has been through a couple rough times. He slipped through a divider and ended up in a compartment with the water drain and a powerhead. He was pretty shaken up but still eating good.
Now a couple days later he is exhibiting what looks to be dry skin on his head and down his back. I have read a little on flesh eating disease but also know diagnosis can be tricky.

I dipped him in 2 tsp sodium chloride/ 3 qts. water as recommended by http://www.syngnathid.org/articles/diseaseGuide.html
He did well through the dip and the skin looked exfoliated. Even ate immediately after. We'll see how it plays out.

He appears to be fully recovered. YES!!! Again all I did was 2 tsp sodium chloride in a 3L pitcher. I made the temperature the same. The dip lasted for 9 minutes and he showed no signs of stress. Of course he wanted to hide, but that's to be expected in a new environment. He is eating like a horse and has his bright happy yellow colors back. I don't see any of the scaly skin left. I may do one more dip for peace of mind........ Cheers to good health.

The seahorse had a small spot closer to his tail return. Retreated with another sodium chloride dip for 10 minutes and will be looking for the chemicals listed in the link for treatment if it continues.
