So I got a new clam and there is a small tube on the side of his shell. It doesnt seem to bother the clam, but he bugs the crap out of me! Whatever it is sends out a "spiderweb" type net and catches stuff in it, then he sucks it back in and cleans it. Im sure this is a good filter feeder type critter, but the "spiderweb" stuff makes my tank look nasty! Does anyone know what it is?

It's a vermitid snail. Harmless filter feeder but they can reproduce. If you don't want them in your tank you can just crush it with a pair of pliers.

It is a vermetid snail aka worm snail. I releases the mucos to capture food as it floats by in the water column. Nothing to worry about, not harmful.

I would argue that they are reef safe,. They put out a mucus net that can and will suffocate some corals and they can get rather large which in turn will produce even more slime. Not to mention the look of that slime in your tank. I hate those things and get rid of them as soon as I see them.

I plug the hole up with super glue gel when I see them.
