Thinking of going back to MH. I'm going to get Lumatek ballasts, thinking of getting the Lumenarc III Mini reflectors for a 75g tank. Would these be good reflectors? I was looking at the Lumenbright minis but they seem a little larger

Thanks Tex, now I just gotta find out if I can run all SE bulbs on these ballasts. I heard they're comparable to IceCap but has a better warranty and are 30 dollars cheaper.

Saw a set at a clients house. Mike's right, very good light distribution. The lights were 175W and I really thought they were 250W by the brightness.

Sounds like you already have the ballasts? If not, why not hook up a blue wave to those bad boy reflectors.

300 bucks each ballast, sounds pretty expensive. Compared to 99 dollars for the Lumatek thats the same as an IceCap. Trying to reduce the cost as much as possible, I really do miss metal halide but not sure if I should go back to it or just buy new reflectors by IceCap, standoffs, and end caps for T5HO.

Lumatek with LumIII = ~458
Bluewave with LumIII= ~844
Redo T5HO= ~215

unless the Bluewave is a dual ballast? Edit: *Marinedepot sells the dual ballast

Is there any advantage to running SE over DE? I know at least with DE you wont have damage the reflectors since itll have glass to protect it

With DE bulbs you will have to have glass shielding.

I bought the lumenbrights over a year ago, and I'm still very happy with them.

Bill, do you think itd be better cleaning the glass than scratching up the reflectors?

Cleaning the glass is not a huge deal - but I found I had to clean the glass WAY more than the reflectors. I clean the reflectors every few months and the glass over my old pendants were more like every 2 weeks.

I am also thinking about a 175w LAIII Mini Stealth pendant... Decisions, decisions...
