3.5mm substrate and fish that burrow question

So for more flow, id like to add bigger grain size of substrate, my only concern is how this will effect fish that burrow in the sand like wrasses, the halichoeres variety. Will this scrape them up really bad?

that is what i have in my tank, and all my sand burrowing wrasses are fine :)
