I got a long tentacle anemone about a month ago. When I got it, it was a really pretty pearly white color. Over time it has been browning. I have heard mixed things about this. Some people tell me that brown is good, some tell me that its bad. The anemone moves around and gets plenty of light.
The anemone never seemed to settle in a spot. I recently got rid of my toby and moved the anemone from being wedged behind a rock (It wasn't attached to anything). Its now fixed to the base of a rock and as its foot half buried in the sand.
The tentacles are not very long. They are only between one and two inches long. I've been trying to feed it mysid shrimp but it hasn't been grabbing them. I was thinking of getting some ghost shrimp at the LFS next time I am in but I'm not sure if it would eat those either.
Water Stats:
Temp: 76-80 fluctuates depending on if the light is on or not.
pH: 8.6
Nitrites: 0 ppm
Nitrates: 60 - 80 ppm
Ammonia: 0 ppm
I have a 150 watt metal halide with two 55 watt actinic florescence.
Would the changing of color be normal?
