Looking for something to eat it or get rid of it. It's beginning to take over...
Any ideas? Thanks

A good clean up crew might not be a bad idea. Turbo Snails eat all day long...

How old is your tank? Turbos rock!

Well I had many many turbo snails and a very clean tank until I bought my huma. Now all the snails have vanished. My tank has been up and running for more than two years but this just started. Its a 55 gallon so I dont know if there's just not enough water flow or what. Alamo Aquatics told me that it might be because of the crushed coral at the bottom of the tank instead of having sand , but I have no idea.

i have the same problem, replenish your cleanup crew and i bet it disappears over time (with water changes of course)

No point in buying more cleanup crew with the huma in there. It'll keep on eating them.

Is it brown hair algae or cyanobacteria?

A heavier duty protein skimmer or incorporating a sump may be needed. Your tank could be cycling through with the addition of a big eater.

No Im sure its brown algea. And I just did a water change. I have actually been doing them once a week since this started and its back by the next moring and slowly gets worse and worse. And yeah everytime I add any snails they aren't there the next morning. What sump do you recommend?

Ive got a 55 and been battling brown algea for a while. I added more flow to my refugium, added just 1 snail, and increased the frequency of my water changes (from 5 gallons every 7 days to 5 gallons every 3 days). It has all but completely dissapeared now.
What kind of setup are you running?

Well I cant do the snail becuase the fish will eat it, and I dont have a refugium, so do you think the 5 gallon change every three days would work? We just have bak pac and a large filter.
