Anyone know if Hydor Koralias can handle a wavemaker that turns the pumps on and off from 10 seconds to 6 minute intervals???

Thanks.

I know it's a noisey operation when they kick on, but don't know of long term results.

Mine are quiet...Koralia nano, 1 and two 3's. I had a 4 and it was noisy.

Sometime it won't turn back on without the help of the operater, so i don't know if it a good idea to turn on/off constantly.

sometimes they come on running backwards, and I have to agree having a 3 and 2 4's-they are niosy when they come on.

I'm not sure if this answers your question or not, but Hydor Koralia now makes a controllable version of their pumps (link) (http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=18915).

The switching mechanism isn't suppose to last, under the on/off situation of a wavemaker, that's the problem hydor had when creating the new koralias that are compatible with their wavemaker hence the increase price of the wavemaker compatible koralias. Some of the controllers out their are able to lower the amperes and increase the amperes thus creating your needed wave motion without actually shutting the pump completely off. That being said I've not had problems with mine being on a wavemaker other than the occasional rattle when starting up or just not starting up at all until manually urged to.

I've had two on a wave maker for over a year with no problems. The JBJ wave maker. I got it from AD as soon as he could order it.
