Well this little puddle looks like it has potential to be something special. I first noticed it about a month ago while inspecting my rock. Keep in mind the rock was harvested from Vanuatu and then ended up in Austin some time later. There it "cured" in a live rock vat at Kingfish aquariums for three weeks with no lights, only a skimmer. I can only imagine the cycle this coral went through, not to mention the trip to my house and laid out on my cold living room floor while I planned the aquascape. It's hard to tell from this picture put the polyps are neon green and the coral is starting to turn purple! It's way to early to tell what species of sps it is but I'm very excited to have it. Check it out.

You know I'm not 100% sure it is but if I had to guess it is.

Very cool. Best hitchiker ever, quite possibly!

Score!
Looks like fungus. I'll take it off your hands so your tank doesn't experience any ill effects :)

That first picture looks like a faded out purple bonzai...nice score if it is.

I'm guessing it showed up from somewhere other than it's natural environment:
1) most corals in nature are ugly. The good ones are few and far between
2) little survives those live rock shipments.
3) even less survives a live rock tank at a LFS.

Bill I hear ya but trust me it came in on the rock straight from Vanuatu, I was at Kingfish a few times while it was curing and you could tell it was "straight from the ocean"
TAHGAC I don't believe it's porites. Right now it's looking like an acro but it may turn out to be a monti. Either way neon green polyps against purple will be okay with me. :)

Looks like a lougie ....better give it to me. :)
I've heard of sps surviving on rock a couple of times.
Keep us updated!

I'm hoping it turns into an acro Jerry but a cool monti would work too.
Steve how about a piece of that burnt orange cap behind your pretty little bonsai frag?!?! Bet you didn't even notice that. I tell ya before too long you'll be saying, "HOOK'EM"
