I have a Coral Beauty in my reef tank. It does pretty well except when I added an ORA Purple Plasma. Must have been something about those fluffy green polyps  . Everything else has never been touched. I may be lucky though.

I keep a coral beauty in my sps dominant tank. When I first inroduced it to my tank it would nip at a couple of acros and montis. The nipping stopped after it discovered the algae clip. I also had a coral beauty in my first tank that would not stop nipping at acros. I had to take him out.

i also have a small coral beauty angel that just recently bought, and till now he is doing pretty good. haven't seen him nip at any sps, just mainly at the live rock, but i guess this is a must do for all fish. Now the only thing that i saw the other day is that he was nipping at my clam but nothing too bad though. I'll just have to keep watching him/her.

Indeed. I got rid of a lemonpeel for nipping at a newly purchased brain. And now my scopas tang thinks he should steal the food from the open brain. That's what I love about this hobby and hate at the same time. Something can always be changed and nothing is ever good enough.

If you don't want to lose any LPS or SPS, don't try keeping angels of any kind. If you don't mind losing a few here and there, go for it. There are no rules, only guidelines...

An argi angel would be your best bet for a reef safe angel. I've had a few over the past 10 years and never had a problem w/any them nipping lps or sps. I would watch keeping more than one in a tank, unless it's a pretty good sized tank.

I just sold my coral beauty because it had a taste for clams.

I bought a Flame Angel from Tamer when he owned Aquatic Warehouse and he/she has never touched anything from SPS to Acans to Brain corals. ( Maybe I just got a good one)

My Argi has never touched anything in my tank, and that includes my clam! A pygmy angel would probably be your safest bet.

I've got a Flame Angel in my 90 gal reef. It hasn't touched any of my corals. Though I wouldn't recommend adding one if you have lots of expensive corals.

I have a coral beauty, a flame angel, and a koran and about 5 different sps corals doing really well. No nipping, no problem. Tanks size = 135 gallons. I think it just depends on the fish you get. Some are picky, some are not. They are just like people. Not all fish act like other fish. My fish have been in the same tank for about 10 months and the corals for about 6 months and everything seems fine and dandy!

Like Bill said - it is a gamble. I had a coral beauty in my BC29 since I started the tank. I never caught it so much as licking a coral. It would occasionally pick algae from the rock at the base of corals, but never ate a polyp on any of the corals. I kept mainly LPS and palys. In my 90 I have a mix of LPS, SPS, and palys - I just put in a Fishers Angel and so far so good. A good friend of mine broke all the rules and has 3 dwarf angels in his 110 mixed reef - Flame, Coral Beauty, and pygmy. They all behave themselves as far as he knows. Feed well has been the advice that I have been given about keeping dwarf angels in a reef - if they are full then they are less likely to go looking for food.

Bellus angel or any of the other in the Genicanthus family are reef safe. Hard to find but they are way cool...
