View Full Version : Spider webs in my water?

We just recently completed a water change and noticed fine whiteish clear threads clining to the glass and over flow. They look just like spider webs.

If this normal? What might this be? Anyone else seen this?

Thanks for helping a newbie.

yeah corals will sometimes slime when you change water nothing really to worry about, it could also be vermetid snails, which send out a "cast net" in which to catch food, which very closely resemble spider webs, just in case keep an eye on it, but it happens to me all the time with no ill effect

There are also little tube worm type things that let out long strands that look like spiderwebs. I have them all over my tank and I hate them because they irritate my corals.

Those are the vermetid snails mentioned above.

I stand corrected. I just did a little research and, sure enough, what I thought were worms are, in fact, vermetid snails. Thanks for the heads up. :)
