My first salt tank.

Joshua made me buy it!

I bought it from Captexas from the MAAST classifieds. (Thanks Chris for the xtra goodies)

Aquarium Masters service is the bomb! They hooked me up, and will be my primary source of goods. (found them here on MAAST also).

Wish me luck, I have no idea what I'm getting into..lol.

Congrats! Great looking tank, welcome to one great hobby!
I've got a skimmer for sale that's perfect for that sump... let me know if you're in the market.

nice to see someone setting up chris's tank, the live rock that thing produced was pretty denitrifying heheh :)

Glad to see you got the tank up and running. My living room is awefully empty right now! On the heater, that is a heater I had before I got that tank. Because it is so long it really doesn't fit in the sump so I always hung it in the corner overflow in the tank, which wasn't the most effective location. If you are going to run that heater, it needs to be sumberged completely or up to the line at the top so it doesn't overheat and break. Other than that, it looks good!

Just another notch on me belt. :p Hey speaking of selling tanks, you still got my old 180? I was looking at a bunch of my coral pics last night and almost wanted to cry... then I remembered who took away all my stuff!!!!

Thanks guys! I've been lurking for some time and learning and gawking at yalls posts.

I relocated the heater to the overflow like Chris said he had it. There where zip ties in the sump that the heater fit in, so I thought that's where it went. Thanks for pointing it out. I never would have known.

Yes a skimmer is next. don't know if I want to build one, or buy one. Funds are short right now.

Yes Joshua is evil.

That fish is a mullet I caught in a cast net in my front yard. (I live next to the water). I put it in there for the cycle since I don't have much live rock.

Congrats, I have to ask because I have no idea. Where is Ingleside on the bay?

Ingleside on the Bay is directly across the Corpus Christi bay from Corpus.

Thanks again guys. I do have a question that I'll post in a new thread.

during the cycle I had the Chai Rock going on strong.

after a month or so, I got some snails and crabs from Aquarium Masters to do a little clean up. Man what a job they did.

Shortly after I got me a clown, Damsel, and a Cromis.

After letting these guys settle in, and making sure the tank was up to par, I added a few more critters one week at a time.

I have 25#s more of live rock curing in San Antonio that I'll pick up over the holidays.

Oh yeah, forgot to add. I Ebayed a cheapo skimmer with a needle wheel pump. chopped off all the "needles" and zip tied some coarse mesh to the wheel. Then chunked all their pumbing and added my own. Works like a charm!

That's the virgin skimmer pic. Now the skimmer in nasty brown, foamy, and stinky.

It's getting there.

Joshua, I hate you man. That saltwater needle found a vein. I'm hooked.

All critters come from Aquarim Masters in Corpus Christi.

Okay, so I'm drinking my first cup of coffee while reading this post and apparently I'm processing s-l-o-w-l-y this morning. I kept staring at that last photo above and trying to figure WHAT is that odd cluster of lights right at the waterline? Finally it registered in my brain that it's a ceiling fan and it must be reflected in the glass from the room. Ha!
