Light burn out already???

My 29g BC is exactly 3 months old today and this morning the daylight burned out. I was surprised it happened so soon....is this about the life span of a 10,000k coralife 36 w? I run it about 10 hours a day.

A defective bulb may be the culprit, but it's not the normal lifespan.

The bulb should lose it's PAR way before it loses the ability to actually work. Pain in the wazoo.

Are you sure its not the ballast. Originally when the Bio Cubes were released there was a thread going around about bad ballast. A PC bulb will burn for more than a year.

Oh and if it is the ballast the company will send you a new one for no charge, I no longer have the contact info but im sure you can find it online.

Well, it was just the bulb this time...thank goodness!! I went to my LFS bought a new one, popped it in and then there was light!!! :) I also took the time to also blow the dust out of the ballast and fans. Good as new for now. I'm still really new at this so I'm really glad it was just the bulb, it would have been a major crisis for me if it was the ballast. The guys/girls at my LFS are so patient with me....they really must think I'm an idiot! :angel:

So far with mine, 2 ballasts and 4 fans.....only running for 6 months now. Not to happy with the right now, neighbors run fine without issue, go figure.
