Coralife Pure-Flo II RO Units

i was looking at the 24 gpd 3-stage one. Anyone have any luck with these RO units? looking at getting one but wanted some feedback on this product.

I have one on the floor of my garage... I've thought about giving it away, but I'd feel bad for ripping someone off!

It's my extensive experience that anything with the "Coralife" name on it is less than average quality.

Spend the $$ up front, and get a good unit from Buckeye (www.buckeyefieldsupply.com (http://www.buckeyefieldsupply.com) - a sponsor). You'll save it in less than 2 years. The DI cartridge on the Coralife unit is something like $40 - replaceable DI resin should be about 1/3 that. The DI unit will have to be replaced in 6 months or less.

Well, I'd edit my post but...

I just checked. You'll pay about $200 for the Buckeye unit.

Don't buy just an RO unit - you HAVE to have the DI part. Looks like Coralife now has refilable cartriges (they used to have to replace the whole thing). The DI cartridge is $16, but it's a fraction of the size of a real refillable unit.

It's really easy to think about how you could save some money and then "change" things later on. But hey you may be compromising yourself until then.

I have one of thses units. The units are make from industry standard parts, except the membrain housing (I understand it has a built-in flow restrictor). The have bought replacement part for mine from Buckeye, Marine Depot, thay all fit.

A 24 gpd unit is pretty low capacity - my guess is that you are a very patient man.

Some things to look for in a good reef RODI system:

Standard-sized prefilters, membrane, and DI cartridge
Brand name, high-rejection membrane
Specifications provided for each stage
Pressure gauge after the prefilters and before the membrane
Thermometer
DI bypass
Vertical DI stage
Refillable DI cartridge
Aluminum bracket
Quick connect fittings
Flush valve
Clear housings
High-quality instructions
Customer support after your purchase
