I just bought a new mertensii from reefscience. It arrived yesterday so its still settling in.

My purple LTA that use to be with my pink skunk that I sold.(I wonder how the pink skunk is doing?) Now it is with my Chrysopterus aka blue striped clowns. They seem to be really liking it..to the point that they haven't even noticed the Mertensii. This makes no sense since the plta isn't their natural host and the Mertensii is. LOL:rolleyes:

Thank you for the nice compliments on the purple lta. I have had that anemone since Oct 2007 here is a picture of it when it was a baby.

Aww that is sad when things like that happen. It looks like yours was kinda a blueish purple. Was your clown using it as a host?

Yea, the clown was using it as a host, he was loving it... It had some nice colors to it.. Depending on the time of day..

i had a condy in a 20h i used to have and he detatched from the rock and attatcehd himself to the heater...half dead when i had gotten home..big...real nice....oh well...http://www.maast.org/forums/picture.php?albumid=24&pictureid=117

Good news today..the clowns found the mertensii..well the male did..usually when the male finds the anemone she follows him.

How big should that Mertensii get over time?

It grows to up to 39 inches :) I can't wait till it takes over half of my tank.

No, but not all of us have one that's gonna be THREE FREAKIN' FEET ACROSS when it's full-grown! =:o

:bigsmile: yeah its going be great:bigsmile: It may take a couple of years for it to get that big. Right now the anemone is maybe 8 to 12 inches.
The only other host anemone that rivals the S. Mertensii in size is the H. Magnifica.
