PH Question

Hello all. Second post here. I am currently getting more involved with my reef tank. I've had it for almost 2 years. Anyway, a few months ago, i had an aptasia problem and bought some peps which took care of it. In the process however, I tried some "Joe Juice" which some in MARSH said was just a heavy kalk mix. This seems to have killed off some of my zoos and gsp.

I was wondering if PH plays a piece in keeping/killing these subjects. I always have my nitrates in check but just started checking ph and it was at like 7.7, so I started on a buffer dkh program daily adding a fresh cup with one teaspoon mix.

Does this seem like my problem and does it seem I am going about resolving it the right way?

All throughout this ordeal my other corals did okay so I'm just hunting for the answer. Thanks in advance guys.

I have never used Joe's Juice but I don't think it will hurt the zoas if yoiu accidentally got some on them in small amounts..
PH is a problem, If you are adding buffer, i would do some small water changes first just to make sure everything stays in balance

Thanks a bunch. I started doing that on sunday when it tested 7.7. I am checking daily before adding more buffer to make sure it is stable. So far added 2 teaspoons worth to my 24gal. Might be up to 8.0 today.

Check Alkalinity also,if it is low it can cause pH issues.

Hmmm? It thought acidity and alkalinity were inversely proportional so if I was reducing acidity I was increasing alkalinity? I thought that was PH? Please excuse my ignorance. Anyhow I am using a "Tetra Marine PH test". Thanks all.

if your running a CA+ reactor check that,it might be letting into too much CO2.
