Bought a Yellow Colony Polyp rock from Aquarium Designs on Friday.Acclimated, placed in tank, everything going good.Polyps opened but noticed over the weekend a Hermit Crab grazing across rock. Now there is a clean path in the middle of the polyp forest.Do Hermit eat Yellow Polyps?

How big is the crab???? If it's bigger than a blue leg, you may be in a pickle.

Have 4-5 red leg crabs no more than an inch in size.Got the crabs from B&B if you know what crabs they have.

No chance the "clean path" was just closed polyps from the path of being walked on? (just hoping)

No, the rock was covered, now clean.I don't see anything but rock down the center now.

I am having a similar problem with a large decorator crab and my yellow/green polyp rock. It was covered, now they are slowly disappearing and I am pretty sure the decorator crab is to blame for it.

Thanks,

All of the yellow polips that I have had, have always melted away and then came back larger and more. Just a thought
