Hello. Would anyone like to give me the most current info on Austin LFSes? I've been out of the hobby for a year and I noticed Austin Aquariums had been sold and now it's closed down altogether. I was at Aquatek last weekend so don't need an update on them...has anyplace opened up, and who has nice setups with good healthy stuff and good prices (so I know where to check out first this weekend)? Thanks!

yeah I like them. I'd been to Deep Blue a while back briefly but they were just starting up. Anyone know if they're still around?

Yes I've been to the aquadome. Its pretty far from Round Rock (which is north of Austin) so I don't get down that way much. IMO their saltwater setup seems mediocre. Too bad Horizon closed too. I've never bought from them but liked to look while I was in the area. I wonder what they did with all their stuff when they sold? Did they have a huge clearance sale? I guess Aquatek and River City pretty much as the market cornered, then??? Rivers n Reefs is pretty much token and doesn't seem to have much to offer.....at least not back in '03 when I first went, or back in '05 when I went to see if it had gotten any better...

Hi. I'm new to salt water and I live in Round Rock too. I make weekly trips to River City and would drive double the distance to get to them. LOVE THEM. Great people and very knowledgeable. They have a pretty big store and some cool stock. It's not really that far if you use the Toll roads!!

Austin Aqua Farms in Taylor is pretty good. He has a great setup. He has some really neat exotic corals that you do not find in regular stores. I believe that it's now by appointment only.

no, no livestock at Austin Aqua Farms. At least for alot of fish. One of the fish I saw up there I think was 2-5K.
Mostly cool corals, all types and rare ones.

Rivercity is a great place to visit. Carlos and the gang are very knowledgable. Aquadome has come a long way and has a nice selection of corals and their fish selection is unbeatable. MAtt at aquafarms is THE place to go for nice in demand corals.

Pet Partner in Round Rock on South Mays, smell like crap inside (they sell dog/cat also)
it's a tinny store, but price is ok, not much to say, but maybe really close you to if you need something quick
