Ok I had posted something on this before, but I didn't get much to the point. Can you good people please let me know a good brand of skimmer for a 50 gallon tank, I don't have the refuge yet but I believe I can afford at least a 10-20 gallon tank to make one out of. I am a bit short on space as well so I'm going to go small. If you have experience with a certain brand please let me know because I'd rather go with solid use than hearsay. I can spend approx. 200 US dollars. Good day to you all and happy reefing!

I would try and find an octopus skimmer online. They're about 200 with shipping, and well worth the money.

Precision Marine makes a great skimmer as well that looks and works just like a euro reef skimmer without the extra cost. You'll spend 250 maybe but they're awesome

Might want to look into AquaC Urchin, assuming you use a sump. I have one on each of my tanks, have never had any issues.

I currently have a Euro-reef RS100 for sale: $250 (comes with User's Guide and Original Box). You want to over-size on the skimmer, which this one is perfect for your size tank. Boy, sounds too much like a sales pitch.. lol

I would say not to skimp out on the skimmer as it is one of the most important things that you will have to buy. I wish someone had told me prior to me buying two subpar skimmers based on price.

aquarium designs carrys the octupus brand in store. no need to go online, they sell the 110 for about 125.00. I am putting a octopus nw200 on my 125, and I have a little eshopp 75 skimmer for my 30 gallon, both do very well.

a good used skimmer would likely be your best option. DBlackmans' sounds good to me.
