I started a thread a few days ago about testing for magnesium. Now that the pros suggest it is a good idea, I would like some suggestions as to what brand of test kit to go with.

Are there pros/cons to either brand? I know my way around a test tube, but I am unfamiliar with some of the brand details.

Salifert is more precise with its values but other than that they test very close in value when tested on the same water sample.

Thanks! Some MAAST members have been very gererous in setting me up with my first SPS frags. I am doing my best not to kill them in the first month- lol. I have figured out where some do best. One is still brown after getting knocked off the rock by a giant turbo snail. It is glued down again and seems to be regaining color. The snails were put in other tanks. It took 3 nights of snail/frag bowling to figure out what was knocking over my frags.

lol yea they are good bowlers

I had a red coris wrasses that could have made it to the olympics for fliping large objects(coral and rocks with coral on it) LOL
Everytime I fliped the frag back over he would flip it over again....drove me nuts and killed a few frags so I had to superglue everything down.

I use Salifert exclusively. It's a pretty easy to use kit - simple titration (add drops from a syringe until the color changes).
