The start of a new school year is quickly approaching. And, as other teaching MAASTards have done, I'd like to set up a tank in my classroom. I'd like to start an "Aquarium Club" and try to get some of my middle school kids interested in the hobby.
The plan is to show the kids the whole process involved from planning the tank, to setting it up, to letting it cycle, and finally adding fish and inverts. I have some rock that I could use and I think I have enough sand, but I could use some help with the other equipment. I know there was a thread going about a year ago for this purpose. But rather than resurrect that old one, I thought I'd just start a new one. (Mods: If this thread needs to be moved, please do so.)
If anyone has anything they'd like to donate to the cause, it would surely be appreciated. Maybe there are some teachers who have tanks that were donated, but are not in use right now? Maybe we could pass them along and let others give it a go? I would be more than willing to organize things this time around.
Let's see what everyone has to offer.
