Not sure what happened but my squamosa was knocked over for a day or 2 before I picked it up and it seems like the piece that holds the clam together broke in half and i can open the clam if I wanted to. Doesnt seem like this guy is gonna make it. Anyone ever have this happen of heard of it? This is the only clam on my sand bed my crocea is on my red cap.

I read in the Reef Aquarium Vol. 1 that you should realign the shells and put a loose rubberband around the shells. The rubberband needs to be loose enough to allow the clam to open. It was said that the clam can secrete a new hinge in about 2 weeks.

In reality, I've never seen or heard of this working, but Julian Sprung's not a complete moron. So I guess it's worked before.

i had a gigas that lived for several years with the two halves of his shell separated. it didnt grow as fast as it should have, but seemed to do fine otherwise.
