150w HQI

Just checking if anyone is using 150w HQI light for SPS and if they are having great growth and color. The only one I have seen, the SPS are turning brown and not growing. Also if you can list the type of light and lamp? I am thinking of trying one on a shallow tank 24" x 24" x 12" deep.

150w HQI will grow SPS in a tank that size with no problem. My question for you is what Kelvin bulb are you running and what flow do do you have in the tank. The Kelvin makes a big diffrence 6500-10k The best growth 12-14k good growth 20k very slow growth from what ive read and seen on the boards

Flow will be 480gph, have not bought the light yet . If I can not find someone with great success with 150 HQI might change my thoughts and go back to SE 175 Pendant with a CV Reeflux something that has worked great for me.

Im sure someone will chime in that has used them. I think most of us prefer DE bulb over SE anyday. I run a 250w DE HQI over a tank 24x18x20

Zcatzmeow has a JBJ 150W HQI with Phoenix "blue" bulb (their version of a 14,000K bulb, looks like 20,000K), she's getting great growth and BEAUTIFUL color. Highly, highly recommend that combo.

Iam using a 150 watt-20K XM right now and the sps I have are looking good and growing pretty well esp. my efflo. May change to phoenix 14K next for better growth next time.

I used a 150 before wouldn't color up my sps. Went back to t5. Cuz of heat issue.now im using the evolution ufo 60wt led n my sps tips r coloring up after 5 days being on. Flow is k nano and 700 return
