I have a sailfin tang that is going crazy darting in and out of the rock work he was fine then all of a sudden snap cutting and weaving about im afraid if i cut the light hes gonna crash into a rock and die. Its a FOWLR have two other tangs a Yellow and a Scopas, Foxface two ocellaris clowns. Only issues would be my nitrates are high.
Thanks

Did you add anything new in your tank? Something has him/her spooked. Turn your lights off to calm him/her down and make sure the room is dark. Check on him/her in a hour. Have faith, Sailfin Tangs are pretty resilient.

I have a Yellow Eye Kole tang that does that some times. Mine doesn't look like it's spooked or anything, though. He just decides he needs to be on the other side of the tank, and takes off. Then, he changes his mind again and again and again....
He doesn't do it much, just once in a while. Mine always settles down when the lights go out, though. I'm sure yours will be fine.

yea, im sure its smart enough not to run into a rock ^.^. my regal gets the "jitters" everyonce in a while also. i gues since there so sued to the massive size of the ocean and ample swimming room, they just build up energy in our home aquariums and release it in bursts. well thats what i think:)

This could be a territorial response, because he is seeing his reflection in the front glass. This is most common right before lights out, because the room is usually dark, and the tank is the brightest object in the room.
