What's a good salinity level for reef tank? The Coralife is measuring my 50G reef at 1.0255 and my 72G reef at 1.021

I try to keep mine around 1.026, however it usually is closer to 1.024

1.025 seems to be right for my tank. Did keep it at 1.024 w/no problems also.

1.0259 or 53.0 mS on my Pinpoint Salinity Monitor.

Is it critically bad that the hydrometer is measuring 1.021? Except for the wondering rose anemone, most corals are looking ok. I've been buying pre-mixed saltwater from the LFS so I did not bother to measure until yesterday. The surface of the tank will be agitated to speed up evaporation in order to top off with more saltwater.

I try to keep mine around 1.024/1.025. The 1.021 isn't too big an issue as long as your livestock was/is slowly acclimated to that level and then you maintain that level in your tank. I think what you don't want to have happen is wide swings or quick swings in the salinity as it is hard for the livestock to adjust.
