I know Sean was talking about using them at some point, but I would like to employ this system in my tank before I get too many SPS. I just want to know what they are using besides the zeoliths, like the zeobak and the zeofood. The main reason I want to do this is to get the shaded areas of my corals to color up fully.

For those of you that want to read about zeoliths, here are some articles.

Thats a good read, I had read breifly on them but it always seems like people have mixed results. Def worth a better look at though after reading that.

I had several friends in Washington that used the system. Crystal clean water but the system is very expensive.

hope that helps!

cheers,

look into prodibio, supposed to be the same thing but much more affordable. most people have started catching on that youre basically stripping the system of nutrients only to add them back in expensive bottles provided by Zeovit. They dont label whats in most of their products, most likely because theyre actually inexpensive and can be bought anywhere.

im currently dosing SpongePower and the Amino Acids.. sponge power smells exactly like vinegar---someone mentioned that dosing spongepower or actual vinegar would end up yielding the same result (to increase sponge population to help filter out water)

It is expensive, and requires a daily routine. Im still contemplating whether or not to use it, (leaning towards yes now with automated zeo reactors!). Im dosing PCV, AAHC, and Pohl's Xtra, with impressive results considering that I dont have a low nutrient tank where the results would be more pronounced

there's a lot of tanks out that dont use the zeo method and still acheive the same results. isnt brian one of them?

Thats all that needs to be said, but way worth it in the end.Ive followed some reefs off reefcentral and checked some out on ZEO and those tanks are amazing.
From what ive read about AA's, and feeding with other foods and poop you can get the same results.
I second prodibo,if i ever did all sps.

what have you seen in your acros? ive been using the same brand of aminos almost a month and not sure if i notice much. i know the branches on my tricolor have been really long and purplish/blue, but thats about it. i know with the spongepower ive seen an increanse in tunicate and the sizes of the sponges on the rocks

I have noticed overall color improvement in my SPS.
It helps if you really keep up with water changes (and skimming if have one, I dont) to keep the nutrients lower.
You will see more pronounced results in a full out Zeo system, but Im happy. Ill see if I have any before/after SPS pictures

Could I run the AAHC standalone without the use of zeoliths? How rigid is the schedule for the AAHC? Are you getting good coloration on the shaded areas of your corals with that?

Erik, I see improved color over the entire coral. The schedule for AAHC is 1 drop per 25 gallons, per day.

I've almost bought the zeovit system several times now. The only think I'm unsure of is if my tank is overloaded with nutrients. Also, I've started using live phyto & a reef chili like feed a couple times a week and I'm really pleased with the results. I'm not sure that I would feel comfortable if I had to stop all foods.
