Are some starfish toxic?

Well I got a nice fromia starfish from Ace's class and after awhile noticed it looked like something was picking at it's legs. I could never catch anything doing it though. Well Tuesday afternoon I came home to find all of it's legs completely gone, eaten. This morning I then find my Flame Angel dead, which really stinks as it was my favorite fish. So I'm wondering if the Flame Angel ate the starfish and that somehow caused it to die?

Problably not... More likely that the starfish was starting to die, decomposing from the feet inward (speaking from experience on this one), it's like they are slowly coming unraveled. The starfish's death could have compromised your water quality of course, which in turn could have done in your flame angel. I'd check your parameters to be safe.
