Hey Lee,
I was reading on the Tunze forum that these waveboxes may not be suitable for tanks under 30"
Roger said he will know for sure once he gets them in the states, guess we'll have to wait and see!

Where can we pre-order? I'm willing to be a tester.

this only makes waves, correct?

It is a total water movement throughout the tank vs just a wave on the top.

just trying to think between the tunze nano or the gen 2 ecotech marine powerhead which makes waves too

that would be a shame! if they are suitable for smaller tanks they'll make a killing!

Me too. I really want a wave maker for my 40g and I'm sooooo tempted to buy a gen 2 ecotech powerhead so I don't have to wait and it won't take up as much space in my tank, but I also love Tunze products.

You know, I saw one of the Gen 2 Ecotech MP20 and MP40 powerheads today at Aquatek, and I've gotta say, I was actually unimpressed as to the size... Supposedly they take up less space than a traditional powerhead 'cause the motor is outside the tank, but man, that part of the powerhead that's inside the tank is about the same size as a smaller Koralia or a Tunze Nanostream...

I gotta disagree with you here. I just put in Vortech to replace a Tunze stream (and also have a Koralia 4 and Nanostream 6025 in the tank). In order of obtrusiveness: Tunze 6000; K4; I'd say the 6025 and the Vortech are about the same. The benefit being the Vortech is controllable up to 3000gpm with all the different flow patterns.

I really like the Vortech but will definitely check out the Nano wavebox when it comes out.

Just to let people know, aquatek has two of the nano wavebox for sale and one of display.

I heard that the waveboxes spend more time in the mail getting fixed than in your tank. Not sure if its true or not.

Do you know what the main complaint is? The pump, the controller, or the actual acrylic box?

The pumps are bulletproof, the controller is a simple circuit and the box is just a box. I don't see where it could go wrong.

I've never used one, but just curious as to where the pitfalls may be.

Saw one of the Nano Waveboxes yesterday at Aquatek, and now that I've got a Vortech I've gotta say I wasn't really impressed. I mean, it does a decent job on a smaller tank (pretty much exactly like I get from my MP20) but compared to the MP20 it's very much a one-trick pony; no reef crest or lagoon simulation, no choice between long or short pulse modes, just not nearly enough variability to play with IMHO.

Tunze all the way. Zee Ger-Minz

LOL Reminds me of a college summer school class I took... Our replacement professor (the first one had a heart attack in class and died) was an ex-member of the Waffen-SS and had taught math to Hitler Youth after being injured on the Eastern Front. Anyways, he would check everyone's homework before the start of each class, walking up and down the rows like a prison guard at Stalag 17. Well, one day I was feeling a bit froggy so I took my homework and put it under my chair. When he came to my desk he noticed my homework wasn't on my desk, so he asked me, "Vare is your verk? I must zee your papers..." To which I handed him my homework and replied, having watched one too many WW2 movies, "As you can zee, Herr Professor, my papers are in order..."

Trust me, you've never been cussed out until you've been cussed out in German by a 85 year old ex-Nazi.

I agree, for the price, size and various wave functions, I'll stick with my Vortech.

They didn't really say what exactly went wrong with them. They were probably just trying to sell me the Vortech.
